Ankle ligament reconstruction
Achilles tendon rupture and recurrent sprains require ankle surgery to repair the tendons or ligaments concerned to recover an ideal range of motion.
Ankle ligament reconstruction
Recurrent sprains reduce the capacity of the external lateral ligaments to heal spontaneously in an effective position, thus decreasing the stability of the ankle. We thus talk of ankle instability responsible for pain and feelings of giving way.
The objective of the reconstruction is to recover a perfectly stable ankle to be able to carry out all types of activities, thus preventing cartilage damage and the deterioration of the joint. The operation consists in the reconstruction of the external lateral ligaments.
Achilles tendon repair
With time, or during repeated stress, the filaments of the tendon can weaken and the tendon can suddenly rupture during effort. There are two types of rupture: recent, or fresh, and old ruptures.
Orthopaedic treatment, that is, immobilization in a plaster cast for two and a half months, is possible. However, the risk of another rupture is high.
Surgery can be proposed for active or sporty patients.
