Elbow surgery is performed in the case of joint stiffness due to an injury or osteoarthritis; it consists in removing the damaged parts to then enable the natural reconstruction of the joint.
Elbow stiffness can occur suddenly after a trauma or a fracture, and can develop progressively in the case of osteoarthritis. The aim of elbow arthrolysis is to improve and even recover complete mobility, strength and function. The bones and tendons restricting the mobility are treated with a scalpel and a motorised cutter. In some cases, the operation can be performed arthroscopically.
